Front Arena Automation & Trading Analytics Streaming

The Front Arena landscape was spread across multiple servers and required manual build and deployment processes (ATS, APS, Java, Batch). Releases were time-consuming, error-prone and hard to scale. At the same time, in rates and fixed income trading there was a need to make trading analytics data such as orders, trades and RfQs available almost in real time to increase transparency and steering capability.

For the business, stability, speed and transparency were the focus. Automating build and deployment processes shortened release cycles and reduced operational risks. Streaming of trading analytics also enabled better performance analysis, faster reaction in trading and sounder decision-making. The business case lies in higher operational efficiency, lower error costs and improved trading steering.

Modernisation offered the chance to build a consistent DevOps structure for Front Arena and make analytics data systematically usable. Challenges lay in harmonising deployment processes across multiple servers, ensuring stable batch and Java components and in the performant processing and storage of large volumes of trading data.

An automated build and deployment landscape based on Jenkins and Git was implemented, operating all Front Arena servers consistently. In parallel, a streaming approach for trading analytics data was established, capturing orders, trades and RfQs in a structured way and making them available to analysis platforms (e.g. Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL). The result is a stable, scalable operating environment with a transparent analytics layer for rates and fixed income.

We designed and implemented the automation solution, ensured consistent operations across all servers and developed the streaming architecture for trading analytics. Our value lay in combining Front Arena expertise, DevOps capability and deep understanding of trading processes in the fixed income area.
